House Break-in

Higgo Crescent - Wednesday, between 18:00 and 00:00
At 17:29 on Wednesday 15 March I received a call from my tenant to report that the padlock to one of the security gates opening onto the carport had been removed as also the metal locking pin. My tenant explained that he was puzzled because he couldn’t find the missing padlock or the associated pin. For safety he then chained and padlocked the two gates before retiring to bed.

In the morning, however, he discovered that the chain he had used to secure the two gates had been cut and that the following items had been stolen: a gas cylinder in use plus regulator, a second full gas cylinder, and a power tool being stored in the carport. The burglars didn’t try to gain access to his parked car or to either of the two dwellings on the property.

The incursion must have happened before 23:00 when my brother who only has a remote and not a key to the lock was able to gain access in order to check that all was well.

Other theft

Belmont Avenue - Monday, at about 04:45
At about 04:45 I heard noises outside in my courtyard, got up to have a look out the window and there was a man on the wall of my courtyard helping himself to my belongings. I shouted and he ran out the front gate which is opposite the back entrance to St Cyprians. Our front gate wasn’t closing properly and think he saw an opportunity? Didn’t take anything of real value (just some old pots and pans and a solar light) but I’m not sure if that would the case if I hadn’t woken up and found him.
